Micaceous Iron Oxide Primer

Micaceous Iron Oxide (MIO) Primer is a high-performance protective coating designed to provide excellent corrosion resistance and long-term protection for steel and other metal surfaces. It contains micaceous iron oxide pigments, which have a distinctive plate-like structure. These pigments overlap within the coating to form a dense, barrier-like layer that helps prevent moisture, oxygen, and corrosive substances from reaching the underlying metal.
MIO primers are widely used in industrial and commercial environments where metal structures are exposed to harsh conditions. They are particularly suitable for structural steel, bridges, pipelines, storage tanks, towers, machinery, and other fabricated steelwork. The primer can be applied over properly prepared steel and is commonly used as part of a multi-coat protective paint system, often with an intermediate or finishing coat for additional durability and aesthetic protection.
