Red Oxide Metal Primer

Red Oxide Metal Primer is a protective coating specially formulated to prepare metal surfaces before the application of a finishing coat of paint. It is widely used on iron and steel surfaces because it helps prevent rust and corrosion while improving the adhesion and durability of the final paint layer. The characteristic reddish-brown colour comes from red iron oxide, which provides effective protection and contributes to the primer’s distinctive appearance.

The main purpose of a red oxide primer is to create a strong protective barrier between the metal and environmental elements such as moisture, oxygen, and humidity. When bare metal is exposed to these elements, rust can develop quickly and weaken the surface. Applying a suitable primer helps reduce this risk and extends the service life of metal structures and components.
