TMT Bars Coating

TMT (Thermo-Mechanically Treated) bars are widely used in construction because of their high strength, flexibility, and durability. However, exposure to moisture, chemicals, and harsh environmental conditions can cause steel reinforcement to corrode. TMT bar coating is an important method of protecting reinforcement steel from corrosion and extending the service life of concrete structures.

Coating involves applying a protective layer over the surface of TMT bars to reduce direct contact between the steel and corrosive elements. Depending on the project requirements, different types of coatings may be used. Epoxy coating is one of the commonly used methods. It creates a strong protective barrier that helps prevent water, oxygen, salts, and other corrosive substances from reaching the steel surface. Fusion-bonded epoxy coatings are particularly useful in environments where reinforcement is exposed to high humidity or chloride contamination.
