Fire Retardant Intumescent Paint (water based)

Fire Retardant Intumescent Paint is a specialized water-based protective coating designed to improve the fire resistance of various building and industrial surfaces. It provides an effective passive fire protection system by forming an insulating layer when exposed to high temperatures. This type of coating is particularly useful for protecting structural steel, metal surfaces, wood, and other suitable substrates where fire safety is an important consideration.

The main feature of intumescent paint is its ability to expand when exposed to heat. Under normal conditions, the coating remains a relatively thin protective film. During a fire, the temperature causes the paint to undergo a chemical reaction and swell significantly, forming a thick, carbonaceous char layer. This expanded layer acts as a thermal barrier, reducing the rate at which heat reaches the protected substrate. In the case of structural steel, this helps delay the loss of strength caused by rapid temperature increases, providing additional time for evacuation and firefighting.
